What’s Happening with the Kickstarter

We finally got our paperwork from the state necessary to set up a business. We also got a bank account. Now all that remains is to get an Amazon Payments account verified with Kickstarter. Unfortunately, Amazon requires that we send them a *fax* of a bank statement to verify our account. It then takes *five days* for them to do this. For reasons we don’t understand, our Amazon account was not able to be created and was “locked.” We’ve contacted customer service and they said they would be back with us in *THREE TO FIVE* business days.

Assuming we get the account back on track, and assuming we then get our bank verified through a fax, we will have to wait *another* SEVEN business days for Kickstarter to verify our Amazon account. We cannot start the Kickstarter until all of this is completed. So to just review, here are the steps we went through:

1. Created an LLC.
2. Waited on the state to approve our LLC (took like a month)
3. Contacted the IRS and got an Employer Identification Number (took like a day)
4. Got all of our paperwork in order (took a couple of days)
5. Created a bank account (took one day)
6. Created an Amazon account

We are now waiting for
1. Amazon must unlock our account (could take 3 days)
2. We must fax a bank statement to Amazon (could take 5 days)
3. We must wait on Amazon to approve all of this (no idea how long that will take)
4. We must wait on Kickstarter to verify our Amazon account (could take 7 days)
5. We must wait on Kickstarter to approve our project (no idea how long that takes)

So when all is said and done, it could be another MONTH before we are able to begin our Kickstarter. This is a very frustrating process. We will let you know what the result of this is.

  • I feel your pain. Went through months of prep and agony only to get locked out of my amazon account I’ve had for 6 years! I’m done with Kickstarter. I’m good to find my project on HeroFunding.com and not deal with amazon B’s.
