Release delayed by a few weeks

Hi everybody, as much as it pains me to say this, we’re going to have to delay releasing (i.e leaving Early Access) by a few weeks. This delay had to happen for two reasons. First, we have in-person meetings with business partners that have been delayed into next week, and we want to get those done before release; try as we might, people have busy schedules! Second, there are a couple of critical issues that we’re still making absolutely sure are fixed before we give the release the green light.

We take leaving Early Access very seriously, and want players to have the best experience possible.

We will keep you informed of updates, and I don’t anticipate it will be very long before we have a new firm date.

In the meantime, here’s our release trailer!

Here’s some of the stuff we’ve been working on to make release possible. Most of this is already done:

  • Improvements to dwarf path planning and AI, and fixing bugs with combat.
  • Large performance improvements in late game and when there are many entities.
  • Fixing many bugs with building objects, zones, and blocks.
  • Fixing some issues with loading worlds or objects that are in various states of being built.
  • Some artwork and GUI tweaks.
  • Tweaking how often creatures auto-dig and in what situations.
  • Fixes to bugs during trade.
  • Crashes that occur in severe corner cases: fix many, many crashes that arise when the user is resizing the screen, moving it, or connecting a secondary display. Fix crashes that arise when the user switches audio output, etc.
  • Much, much more!
